As originally issued, there were 5 unvarnished "proto-Spogz" --
convention giveaways -- that came out before the official set. Three of these
bore Spawn images, with art by Todd McFarlane; the other two promoted Eclipse
Comics and Larry Marder's Tales of the Beanworld comics.
As originally issued, there were 54 different images on 1 5/8" dia. caps,
with art by Todd McFarlane. They were sold in random-assorted foil wrappers
(12 Spogz in each) packed with two kinds of trading-card-size insert sheets.
Insert #1 contained a checklist of all the 54 Spogz and an ad for the Spogz
binder (see below). Insert #2 gave Pog game instructions & had an ad for
the Platinum Pog (see below). The foil packs came in display boxes.

By sending in the trading-card-size inserts (see above), fans could purchase
two limited edition add-ons: (A) A green 3-ring binder embossed with the
official yellow and orange Spawn logo, and inside, 3 20-pocket pog sleeves
hold each one of the SPOGZ in the 54-SPOGZ set. (B) A limited edition,
sculpted metal "Platinum Pog" (actually made of nickel) bearing the
image of Spawn in detailed, coin-quality relief.
Platinum Coin Spog
As originally issued, each full case of display boxes contained within its
foil packs one limited edition subset of 6 prism caps (P-1 through P-6), a
prism cap version of the metal "Platinum Pog" ( M-1), and a Toddface
slammer to play the game, depicting Todd McFarlane in Spawn's costume. Packed
into each case, where the retailer could find it easily, there was also a
prism board to hold the subset of caps P1-6 and M-1. These bonus products were
never sold to the public. The prism caps were inserted in random foil packs
and the prism board was given to retailers as part of an incentive program for
increased orders. These Bonus Products are the rarest of the Spawn Spogz
collectibles.
