2004 : IRISH SPAWN / SPAWN.COM LIMITED EXCLUSIVE

THE MAKING OF McTWITCH's KINCAID

And here I am, presenting the second Irish Spawn / Spawn.com Limited Edition Gift Exclusive. Like 2 years ago, I wanted to create something special for a few close friends. This time we get an upgrade and the figure is also bundled with a new game on this very website, Spawn : Rampage 666.

This time around I opted for something new, instead of re-packaging a current Spawn figure. A few months back my good old friend Joe AKA McTwitch, sent me a great Kincaid custom. It took me 15 seconds to realize I wouldn't find a better figure for my next limited gift !

SO like that it started, with McTwitch on a side preparing his tools and Max ordering 10 Clown IV from Series 20. Provider was as usual Kim from Spawntoys.com who actually cut me a pretty sweet deal on the lot (and props to him for doing that).

In a matter of few days, McTwitch's Spawn room looked like Doctor Frankenstein laboratory :D

I have asked McTwitch to keep a pictorial record of the progress on his side. In this part of the world good ol' Max would be engaged in designing a top card label that needed approval from Spawn.com (in the shape of Dion Bozman), but I'll get into that in a bit.

Meanwhile McTwitchenstein started the painful process of separating bits that needed repainting or remoulding. After that he started baking and painting, forgetting about eating, sleeping, playing and breathing.

In very little time the basics where ready and he so started assembling all the bits. The green pistachio Irish cream is an awesome touch ;-)

The first figure came out complete in less than a couple of days, and it was now time to start the "mass" production. There was 1, then 5, then 7, than the final 11, like in a soccer team ! An army of ice cream madness :D

10 of the Kincaid figures are similar to each other. McTwitch created a special one that he did package and send, signed in the back by the 2 of us, to Todd McFarlane. It is now displayed on his desk. The following is a picture of it. The picture also shows how the final product looks like.

And this brings me back to Max designing the label ... I wanted something colourful but dark, bloody and gory, with an Irish Spawn twist. Well without going into the prototyping stages, here it is (with the top reversed to give a better idea of what it looks like). The label was approved by Dion, I had them printed and delivered to Todd for signing.

At the end of the day this is what the 10 McTwitch's Kincaid are looking like, back and front (with Todd's signature on the back of the card).

So now you know what is involved in a project like this. I would like to remind you all, the project is entirely funded by myself, approved by TMF Productions, is NOT intended for resale and McTwitch really worked hard to re-model the original figures and his interpretation of Kincaid is coming from his very own talent. There are 10 available ONLY and here is a run down of how I am going to use them :

11. Todd McFarlane - 1. Me 2. McTwitch 3. Aspawnfan 4. Spawntime 5. Black Aris 6. Spawn : Rampage 666 prize 7 to 10 to be allocated.
